The Washdown - S/T (for Burnt Zine)
Somewhat more poppy than the emo acts but less punky than those "punk" acts that MTV is apt to play, The Washdown is navigating the narrow stream of popularity using the most inoffensive methods possible. Needless to say, I was still tapping my foot pretty constantly to this disc, as some of the tracks are infectious to an absurd degree. The Washdown provide their audience with a rich melody that lends itself equally to driving music just as focusing in on the intricacies of the disc with headphones. The Washdown put out this EP now only to make their fans thirst for a full length, something that may not be far off.
