With tracks that are often time no longer than a half minute, I’m guessing that this band is grindcore as fuck. I’m right, and a song like “Death Porn” has more than its fair share of acts like Agoraphobic Nosebleed in it. What is interesting about XXX Maniak is the fact that a number of the tracks have a few seconds of introduction before the band really gets into the meat and gore of their track.

While XXX Maniak is going through all of these songs with a blazing speed the one thing that I have to wonder is whether the band has adequately ended their track or if they are continually blue-balling those that are listening to the band. In this, I feel as if the band has a lot of great ideas that are not given enough time to blossom into fruition. The tracks are solid, the production of the tracks is impeccable, but there just seems to be some lack of completion for the vast majority of the tracks on “Harvesting The Cunt Nectar”. The different quotations that are strewn throughout the tracks on the album are nice little breaks for the bulks of XXX Maniak tracks that await listeners, even if these quotes are not anything that can be immediately identified as coming from any specific movie or show. The great thing about XXX Maniak is that there is even a snippet of Haddaway strewn in the deep dark recesses of one of the tracks on “Harvesting The Cunt Nectar”.

The disc may be two years old but it seems as if the band is still current and still ready to rock the hyell out of anyone who is smart enough to go to one of their shows. Obviously, none of the songs on this disc will be anything that is played over the airwaves besides on thrash, noise, and grind shows. However, what XXX Maniak creates is not something that takes a specific type of person to like; there is plenty in the way of harmonies present that individuals can identity along with the pure brutality of the band. Just listen to the back and forth of a track like “Catholic Slut” to hear what I mean; XXX Maniak may pride themselves on being some of the sickest and most hard bands out there, but there is another side to the band that individuals can easily appreciate.
